Skylark Skylights installs and replaces skylights and rooflights across Derby and about 30 road miles around, from the Derwent valley towns to the edges of Nottingham, Burton and Loughborough. Most of our work is in homes, and we take on small commercial jobs too. We do one thing: put daylight where people need it.
The idea
Light where you stand
People usually describe a dark room. What they mean, nearly always, is a place in it: the island where they cook, the desk in the loft, the top of the stairs, the basin in a bathroom with no window. A rooflight centred on the ceiling can light the floor and miss every one of those. So we start the survey by asking what happens in the room and where. The type and size of rooflight follow from that spot, the roof above it and the rules that apply. Our page on where you stand explains the idea in more depth.
The name
Why a skylark
A skylark sings from high above one spot in an open field. The name suits a business that cares about the sky above a particular place, not sky in general.
How we work
Four things you can rely on
- Surveyed first. A free survey. We price after we have seen the room, the spot and the roof.
- A fixed written quote. The price does not change on the day.
- Building Control handled. We deal with the notification where the work is notifiable, with the local authority or a registered building control approver, and install to current Building Regulations.
- A 10-year workmanship guarantee, in writing. The details are on our guarantee page.
What we fit
Ten kinds of daylight
We install and replace roof lanterns, flat roof rooflights, roof windows, VELUX windows, electric opening rooflights, energy efficient rooflights, walk-on rooflights, conservation rooflights and sun tunnels, and we replace misted rooflights that have lost their seal.
